LANDSCAPE PAINTING WORKSHOP

FEBRUARY 17, 2018

10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

This is the class for everyone who paints landscapes! Whether it be in a background or as the whole subject, there are rules about getting distance in your paintings. 

We will look at how to show depth by separating the background, middle ground, and foreground. 

Other elements we will talk about is composition, balance, light & shadow, and how to make your paintings more colorful!

I will give a short demo in the morning and by noon you will be painting your own painting. 

And even better yet, no brushes!  Let's have some fun with the pallet knife while learning some theories about getting a beautiful landscape painted.

 This is going to be a very informative day with so many elements you can add to your paintings to make them even better.

Dogs, cats, horses, tigers, cows, wild animals…  Whatever your favorite animal is, we will work on learning the structure of faces as well as how to best portray them! 
We will also work on composition, color theory, techniques, and painting. 
Open to all mediums!  Work on your own subject with the help of the instructor - Beginners to advanced, all are welcome!

WORKSHOPS COLOR MIXING and THEORY


For Artists of All Skill Levels

1) What will be covered in the class: The elements of theory relating to mixing color according to how we see (scientifically) using the color wheel, lighting (and shadow) temperature, color matching, when and how to define the temperature of the color, color compliments, color transitions, and color terms. 

2) The participants will gain skills: in color mixing confidently and knowledge of the importance of use for gray and brown.

3) The activities that the participants will experience: Creation of a reusable color wheel with graphs of primary color mixtures, tint mixtures, gray and brown mixtures, and transition maps for both primary and secondary colors. Artists will gain a real strength in knowledge as to how to mix the right color easier and faster.

Her work has been strongly influenced by many of the great historical European, Russian, and French artists as well as many contemporary masters around the world.   Bobbi has taught through many locations including The Crocker Art Museum, Placer Schools for Adults, San Angelo (Texas University), and University Art Sacramento.  With over 29 years of experience, she has taught hundreds of adult students during her career, and also children through Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission’s outreach program.
