... Continuing the project

31 Portrait in 31 Days

2018

I am so excited to announce a 2nd 31 portraits in 31 days project in August of 2018!  I need more research to finish my book with! Are you interested in being one of my models?

I had planned to make the book about the people who sat for me, by creating a short story to tell the interesting things about each of them, but what happened is that the questions I asked were not answered by most of the people and they weren't willing to share their favorite quotes, best life experiences, and so on.

So, I have been working on this project over the last three years and making it more of a book about the work of a portrait artist.  The book is based on my experiences, in an honest fun way.

It goes into detail about how the experience of painting people has affected my life and how I love the process and people.

In the month of August, 2015, I am beginning a project that involves painting one portrait of a different person every day for the full month of August.  Each day I have a different volunteer to pose for me.  I will be posting the images here.  This exercise will be used for a publication that I am working on.  Each person will sit for 3 hours with breaks every 30 minutes or as needed.  The photo images of my work and the sitting will be used.  The portraits will be available for purchase by the sitters.  Above you will find an example of what a 3 hour portrait study looks like in oil.  Stay tuned...

40 -18 x 24" canvases have been ordered and delivered.

I will be painting a primary coat of paint onto the surface of all the canvases throughout the next month.  This will allow a painted surface so that the studies don't have to be painted fully to the edge at the time of the sitting.
